We have developed conversion procedures that preserve the projection parameters and honor economic schedule flexibilities wherever possible, allowing for maximum versatility in running sensitivities, making modifications, and other general use.

MICROSOFT OFFICE AUTOMATION TOOLS

Excel, Access, and Word

We have created customized automation tools using Visual Basic for Applications in Microsoft Excel, Access, and Word. These macros cover many aspects of reserves work and have been deployed to hundreds of users, saving many hours and increasing the accuracy of final products.

CUSTOMIZED TRAINING CLASSES

A Targeted Approach

We created a set of classes to teach essential Microsoft Office and petroleum industry (ARIES, PHDWin, etc.) skills, focused on the skills actually used by the company rather than a broad survey. The targeted approach allowed the company to stop sending its personnel to two-day, expensive external classes. In just a few hours, the students could learn everything they needed to excel.

ARIES GROUP ECONOMIC LIMIT PROGRAM

Before ARIES had any provision for calculation of group economics, we created a stand-alone Visual Basic program that would perform the necessary calculations and apply LIFE terms automatically. More advanced versions of the program could even control the ARIES interface directly, allowing for one-touch calculation of nested groups that otherwise would require multiple passes. This program is even more versatile than the current native version in ARIES and is still in use by several industry leaders.

RESERVES MANAGEMENT

Set up and managed a reserves department for approximately 35,000 producing royalty properties, included handling audit and accounting requirements, all aspects of LOS analysis and reserves reporting, and coordination with land and revenue departments.

REVENUE PROCESSING

Managed a team that processed revenue for approximately 35,000 producing royalty properties, including creation of automation tools for readable PDF files, leading a team of manual entry processors, normalizing the disparate results, and creating and maintaining a SQL Server database of the transformed results.

CUSTOM ARIES AND PHDWIN REPORTS

We have created a variety of custom reports for both ARIES and PHDWin that allow for presentation of exactly the results desired.

VALIDATING ROYALTY PAYMENTS

We work with ownership and public production data to ensure payments are made on the proper wells and decimals and follow up with operators or other resources as needed to remedy any errors.
